Almost 2...

OK, so I am officially a terrible blogger, at least in the photos dept. Will try to post a bunch from my phone later today. But for posterity I want to document some of Cora's almost 2 year old behaviors, most of which are adorable, some of which are kind of annoying.

-First, she has started to have a very active imagination, which is so much fun. She has a cardboard box that is her car and she fills it up with stuffed animals and pretends to drive to Seattle. I just got her some dress up costumes from the goodwill, and she is loving pretending to be an astronaut or a princess, or an "astronaut princess". She also takes her small astronaut figurine (or her little robot or a small stuffed chicken) all around the house with her, and makes them do everything that she does. They pretend to eat cheerios, go potty, ride the cat, etc.

-She has also started drawing things that are sometimes recognizable! She usually starts with a big circle for someone's face and then adds other circles and lines for parts of their face. She drew mama with eyes, a nose and mouth, ears, cheeks, a neck, and hair. Amanda our nanny has helped Cora love art, and she asks to do it every day.

-She is also starting to develop a sense of time. Mainly this consists of saying "right now?" when she requests things, but she is starting to say "maybe later" or "Saturday" to mean that something might happen in the future.

-Cora can say Sock instead of Cock now!! :)

-She loves going to dance class. We have only gone twice, but she talks about it a lot. The second time she got the moves much more of the time, and was by far the most enthusiastic student ("Yay!" and clapping after every move or song.) In class they have the kids put a rubber spot on the floor and return to it when the music stops. Cora has been getting spots for us to use at home (hot pads) and making me do all the moves from class. And she asks where teacher James is. Sometimes at 6:30AM.

-Last but not least, we have officially entered the dramatic two's. Cora is still generally quite a happy camper, but occasionally launches into loud (somewhat fake) crying if she does not get something that she wants. This is usually when I am not letting her look at my phone or we are not going immediately to the park, etc. If you can stop her during these moments and ask her what she is doing, she will tell you "I crying" very matter of factly, and then usually returns to her crying. She is also very interested in identifying all the emotions of characters in books: happy, not happy, sad, tears, surprised, scared. And she has started saying "Oh NO!" very dramatically whenever anything spills. Or when she purposefully dumps dirt out of the planters.
