Hiccup

It's been an eventful 48 hours here in Spain, as Anna had an emergency appendectomy late last night. We visited the emergency room yesterday at 10am, and spent the rest of the day traversing the Spanish healthcare system, which ultimately worked fine, despite a massive amount of bureaucracy, our limited speaking abilities, and the general amount of excruciating pain caused by an uncooperative appendix. The surgery went off without a hitch (after lots and lots of tests to make sure it was necessary). We were unbelievably lucky to have our friends Dan and Melissa arrive to visit yesterday and they have been taking great care of us. As you know, they missed Cora's birth after moving to Berlin, and now they are getting a taste of an eerily similar situation -- abdominal surgery, hanging out in the hospital, cute little baby, etc. Oh, and I just got the bill and all I can say is, "Hooray for socialized medicine!" For this price, I think maybe I should just have mine out while we're here. :)
Don't have the images from the hospital yet, so here are some pics from when Anna still had an appendix.

Espana!
We arrived in Spain on July 7th and have been having a fantastic time. Dennis and Penni visited and left this morning. We had fun going to the beach and eating tapas. Spain won the Semifinals of the World Cup the night we arrived, and we thought it was loud. But when they won the World Cup last night -- our plaza was overrun! Cora has learned to sleep soundly through drunken chanting, loud scooters, vuvulzela horns, and what I'm pretty sure were quarter-sticks of dynamite. And now, here are a random assortment of photos:
